It's delicious, filling, colourful and healthy. This recipe for a banana and mango shake combines high amounts of protein, calcium, phosphorus, B vitamins, Vitamin C, carotenoid compounds and fibre, all of which you can use to try and bring down high blood pressure.

This recipe takes all of five minutes to prepare and serves two, but make sure to read the recipe from start to finish before beginning.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ripe mango. To get a different flavour, you can substitute the mango for a ripe peach.
  • 1 small ripe banana, sliced
  • 1/2 fat-free milk. For a bit of a healthier twist, try using soy milk instead.
  • 1/2 cup orange juice.
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 heaping tbsp vanilla frozen yogurt
  • Sprigs of fresh mint to garnish

Instructions

  • Peel the skin off the mango and cut the flesh away from the pit.
  • Chop the flesh roughly into medium-sized chunks.
  • Put it into a blender with the sliced banana.
  • Add the milk, orange juice, lime juice, sugar and frozen yogurt, and blend it on the highest setting until the mixture is frothy and creamy. This should take about 30 seconds.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately, using the mint sprigs as garnishes.
